Instead I ventured out --- to see --- and hear -- what I would not see --- and hear while cooped inside:
I saw the morning sky turn from burning pink to soft, cerulean blue.
I saw fluffy clouds move in overhead.
I saw the steam over water rise.
I saw morning glories. (I didn't catch their unfurl.)
I saw our cat stretch --- then chase a lizard
I saw the first hummer attack the feeder.
I saw damsels and dragonflies glisten and dart in and about.
I saw a limb crash to the ground (I would have wondered when it fell had I not been standing near).
I saw squirrels jump and play.
I saw a fox trot proudly with catch.
I saw baby chicks follow their hen --- and the rooster crow and circle his wing.
I saw butterflies --- all kinds of butterflies --- hover off and onto puddles, sedums and brightly colored zinnias.
I saw leaves fall (can it already be an autumn call?)
I saw a hawk circle then perch overhead.
I saw MEN --- WITH HATS --- ON HORSES march clippity, clop by.
All these things (and more I'm sure) happened today because I went outside to see what I typically would not see. It is now past noon --- and I can hardly wait to see what I've yet to see.
Do you know what I mean?
